TCK World
Co-Design and Qualitative Methods, IT University of Copenhagen, 2017. TCKs (Third Culture Kids) are kids that have grown up outside of their parents culture. It’s a childhood filled with impressions, cultures and adventures. But it also comes with its own set of challenges, a fact often overlooked. Being a TCK myself I feel a sense of personal empathy towards this segment of users. We worked with a group of 8 kids aged 11-12 from Copenhagen International School consisting of 3 workshops. We worked with a group of 8 kids aged 11-12 from Copenhagen International School consisting of 3 workshops utilising an array of methods from enactment to sketching to ideating to scenarios to mapping. We wanted to explore how we can both acknowledge and define these worldly citizens. This global culture and way of life is on the rise due to our growing globalised society. However, where is their place in society? We’ve created TCK World, consisting of an app and a smart globe using co-design and participatory design methods to help these kids connect and expand their unique network. Welcome to their world!
